Default 2005 2500 silverado HD 4x4 issues

When I try to engage the 4 wheel drive in my truck it takes a few times of pushing the button to engage and when I try to take it out I have the same problem except that sometimes it won't come out at all and stays stuck in 4 wheel for a couple day. I have changed the switch and the actuator on the axel. Anyone have any ideas?

I've tried it moving and stopped. In neutral and park, drive and reverse.

Did you get the battery checked. A low voltage concern can cause weird issues.

a failing alt can case low voltage, and corroded cables, both ends. any type of voltage drop causes issues with the different controllers. like 4wd

I had the battery and alt. tested today and they both show good, but the tester said that I have a drainage somewhere most likely a bad ground. I guess I will start checking ground wires. Would that also cause a U-1000 code?

sure, they are all reference voltage based, so comm errors would be the same story

if i remember my vehicles right it had the pos go to a aux terminal then to the one by the fuse panel. dont remember the neg but i would take both sides off of all of the big ones, use some heavy sand paper, or if you got it one of those wire brushes that fit in a drill to all the terminals and the metal or stud they mount to. has to be shiny on both sides, and put back together with dielectric grease or painted after assembly. then if that doesnt do it have to start moving on to the smaller grounds like the ones that go to the chassis for lights, pcm, etc.
