the o2'*, there are two but the second just determines the state of the cat. the o2 on yours if its working and close to the manifolds or headers should be fine. the tuner i have no idea depends what it is. as far as a cheap scanner i wouldnt buy one. it really needs live data. i use android app called torque pro thats $5. and bluetooth adapter thats like 30-40. the electronics are only frustrating if you have the wrong or no tools. if you have the right tools to talk to the car it will tell you whats wrong with it.

your go cart is cool, my kind of project. more like a side by side though, sounds like what i would do. tell the wife its a little cart when you start then you do this and add that and it spirals out of control. your car is cool too but it needs alot more engine. a lt1, ls or even vortec 5.3 engine all get better mileage than the 4.3 i would bet.

I have been hearing about those cheap Bluetooth $30-$40 OBD scanners. Most are the cheap chinese ones that hardly work, and if they did connect, the data was skewed, or didn't scan at all.

You mean why does a LS V8 get better fuel mileage than its younger sister 4.3 V6? Good question, but I believe its an underpowered engine for the platforms its put into?

Yeah I wanted the side by side seats, 4x4 truck box, and good fuel mileage.
It'* not very powerful, not made to jump etc, just meant to rip down gravel roads and not burn gas like one of the branded side by side ATV'*.

I've been so busy at work that I started building it 3 years ago, and I think it'* been 5 months since I touched it, with 1 day off here and there I'd rather relax than weld ahaha.

im not sure what the 4.3 would be good in but the vehicles they did, the 350 got as good or better mileage and of course more power when you need it. i always loved that body style caprice but the 6 doesnt do it justice.

mine works fine. just slow and has to be pretty close to the adapter for it to work properly. not bad enough to buy a different one. if you want to get into the performance side of the torque program then you would have to buy the more expensive obd adapter

And for $100, is WELL worth it.

This is a 4.3 V8

I never heard of a 4.3 v8 before this care, when I bought it I assumed it would be a 305 v8.

It actually has plenty of jam, not drag racing power, but definately enough for a day to day car.
Enough to do donuts on pavement anyways haha.

A car I owned earlier, probably my FAVORITE, was an oldsmobile park avenue electra, power everything, sun roof, 1981, 307. Nobody I knew heard of that engine either, but it rocked.
Damn I miss that car.... and to think I sold it for 400$ scrap still running and driving... no rust either.

I know crate engines are cheap for these, like 1800$+ kind of cheap, but I wanted to just drive it around town, so I don't think the expense would be worth it.

I will look into the scan tools, I can't believe local garages don't have them.... oh wait, they make more money replacing 6 things when only 1 or 2 things are broken.
