Default 1986 c10 hazzards dont work

I have a 1986 c10 1 owner truck with a 350 crate motor and lately i replaced the left front turn signal socket because it didnt signal now a month later i have a similiar problem it signals when it feels like it and never when the running lights or headlights are on
also a week ago a tiny bit of smoke came from where the turn signal switch goes into the steering column and now the hazzards dont work what probable shorted?

The signal switch probably bit the dust. Time to find a new one.

It was actually a fuse
The other day my friend told me my break lights where out so when I went to change the fuse I noticed it said haz-stop on it so when I replaced it they worked again but I still have no idea why smoke came from the steering column.
Thanks for your help though
