hey all. no clue what it is yet, but i figured id post a thread for when i do find out. impy has been sitting a hair over a week, and lauren has a class tomorrow. so i started it to go put gas in it. it started, but was missing. so i revved it a few times and it caught good. looked out the window and there is smoke everywhere. not white either. i cant decide if its oil or somehow an injector had leaked into a cylinder. i checked the coolant and oil as good as i could in the dark by flashlight, and the oil is good, but slightly low. coolant, i think is dark but i couldnt really tell for sure. friday (when lauren and i are both off) im gonna flush the coolant and see what happens to it.

im hoping its not the lim, but im not putting out of the realm of possibility.

A flush would be a good start. Probably well overdue for one anyways. The darker looking coolant might just be from someone adding green stuff to the dex cool.

unfortunately if it hasent had the upper manifold changed and the lower gaskets changed its likely due. fortunately its not terribly expensive. i got the dorman upper kit, aluminum elbows, felpro gaskets, and some hoses from rockauto for like 150. figured if i do it all at once then i wont have to worry about it

the upper comes with all the gaskets, i had to go get some more injector orings though, they had a bulk pack at autozone. the heater hoses arent on there but being a w-body not sure how they are or what not. i think the h goes to the pass side and it was a big pain. i think on a w it was more toward the middle

Instead of LIM gasket for $48, goto Autozone and get the Felpro kit for $75. It contains more gaskets and seals than the $48 kit that you will need when you are rebuilding the top end.

the Fel-Pro has metal in the middle of the lower intake gasket, want to say copper. where the others may have plastic, or at least the OEM from GM had plastic.
