Recently my gas fuel indicator stop functioning in my 1995 Cadillas Eldorado. Any suggestions before I spend alot of money at the repair shop? Thanks

Is this a mechanical cluster or digital?

mechanical cluster, I was told if I fill the tank that the indicator might start back operating. This problem began after letting someone borrow my car and running it very very low on fuel.

Hi Carnell. Please be more descriptive when you say the fuel level indicator is not working. Is it stuck on full, stuck on empty, jumping all over, going up to full when below half a tank, etc? Describe exactly what it does.

If it is stuck on empty the float in the tank that tells the indicator how much gas is in the tank could be stuck on something in the tank. If it is moving but giving incorrect readings, you probably have to replace the level sensor on the fuel pump.
