Should this connector be connected?

Default Should this connector be connected?

The care is a 1993 Buick Gran Sport 3.3L w/ 185,000 miles.
This connector is exiting the harness between the engine and firewall on the passenger side of the engine bay. I searched for its mate but I do not see it. Is it for a diagnostic purpose, or should I keep looking?

I can't say this is for a diagnostic purpose.

I also can't say to keep looking.

It could be for an option that this car doesn't have. If you aren't missing any functionality, I wouldn't worry about it until you run out of other things to fix.

The location makes me think that it should plug into the steering rack to signal the ECM to kick up the idle when steering assist is needed. The connector color looks more like it is for an evaporative purge function.
