Sachs W0133-1684496 Rear Air Shock Absorbers are manufactured to fit the Lucerne, no problem. There quality is very high and undisputed by me. What I want to know is how there action is. Will it dampen out the bumps any better than other brands by much? Or is it just another option of very high build/material quality but only everyday similar ride qualities as others?

How would the ride be with FE3 struts and shocks and FE1 springs as offered with some Lucernes?

honestly never heard of them or heard anyone ask till you. what i always recommend is either monroe for a more squishy ride or kyb gr2 or excel for a tighter ride. any oem shock or strut only last about 30k before they get so bad they screw up the tires. and they dont ride well either.

Good point. The Sach shocks and struts are OEM for a lot of BMW'*, Mercedes. some Porsch. ect. Parent company is ZF corp. Big plant in Northern KY and Cincinnati. Also Nissan is boasting about useing all Sach shocks and struts on there new Altima claiming it gives good handling but also a smooth ride. I drove my sister in laws new Altima and fell in love with the ride and can say it is true. Now that GM has gotten out of the Dayton/Morain shock plant business I see where GM is using Sach shocks and struts on the HHR and probably some others. The mid class Sach shocks act in a similar manner as the current FE3/GM multi valve shocks and struts do. Thus giving a firm ride and handling but squashing out the hard stuff pretty dam good also.. Not a firm "hard race" suspension but one with some "fun time decent handling" with a more than "pleasant smooth" ride. Sach does make the combo ride work and really well..

I have heard of them on a few auto repair type shows, and they are said to be of good quality, I have never used them myself, or driven a car that has them, so I cannot comment on how well they will, or will not do.

i dont know what they had originally but every gm i ever had, (many) wore them out before 30-50k and rode worse than the kyb'* i replace them with. even my 07 wore out in that period and too out the tires. the kyb'* also are good at both being fairly compliant and also handle well. i havent wore one out either and i keep my vehicles to over 200k

I went with Monroe Sensa Trac for my rear, but the next time I change therm I am going with KYB.
My front struts are at 136k, and surprisingly they still feel pretty good, if I push down on the front end I get 1 to 1&1/2 bounces and it settles.
I think AC Delco'* were used on my car when it was made, not sure if they are who actually made them though.
