Yes at around 4K rpm the needle jumped backwards and worked perfectly, go figure.
Yes all is good William, Winter is coming & I need some new snow tires & tune up. Other than that, the ole Pk Ave is hanging in there.

Initially I tried a double neo magnet & it was not strong enough, as the needle is very lightweight to move it much.

Nice park avenue. above is my current, 99 ultra. below was my first, 98 reg. the 98 was more basic optioned and rustier but it was reliable and i got it for DIRT CHEAP because po didnt know how to put spark plug wires on in the right order. So had an issue free car other than broken door handle until jan 1st 2019 when tire blew out and pulled me into a culvert at high speed. slapped my face with airbag, broke ever suspension component and cosmetic pieces, and took 30 minutes explaining to a cop how i wasnt drinking and getting asked to do a field sobriety test and passing looool.

I was supposed to get new tires 3 days later.... shoulda moved my appt up!

The Pk Ave is one tough vehicle. Your 99 Ultra looks very good.
That must have been quite the ride going into the culvert when the tire blew!
The air bag deployment would definitely have been a real wake up call as well. Glad you were ok, and that they were not the fragmented design by Takata !!
Aged ties can be very dangerous, how old were they? Were you able to read the date codes?

Worst part, they were 3 years old. 2016(it was late 2018, then jan 1st at the time of 2019) and there WAS mild cracking on side wall. But there was a tire with a bulge, so I ordered snow tires(northern WI) and it wasnt even the tire that blew! The tire had 7/32 tread.I worked in a tire shop so i was up and down all over this haha! Since i got it at auction for 400 dollars and it gave me a parts vessel and a learning experience, i dont count it as a total loss. I snagged some good dash and engine bay parts and sold the hood and car/engine separate and recouped about 350 of 400 in just that.
but the scar on my chin took about 9 months to heal lol
