Hi folks,
New problem with old Buick.

When starting in morning, starts right up but has rough idle for about 15 seconds. "Service engine soon" light flashing. Engine idle smooths out and light goes out. no codes set as of yet. 45000 mi on last tune up.

Possible clue: have been smelling gas fumes lately but have not been able to find any external leaks. Have checked all around fuel rail and each injector as well as incoming fuel line.

Car only has 270,000 mi but runs great otherwise. I suspect fuel problem, possibly with injectors but can't prove it. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Hi Mike, Thanks for reminding me about the the fuel regulator. I had that replaced several years ago (2010) when I was having a similar problem. It was worse then, wouldn't idle, back fire etc.
I'll check that today. Thanks again
