Roadmaster Alternator Question ?
When my 93 Roadmaster was in the shop getting the AC changed over , the mechanic (a very good mechanic by the way) told me he checked the alternator and it was iffy . I'm thinking get it changed out before the cold weather hits ? Any recommendations ? I don't want to put any Chinese junk in it and I would prefer new over rebuilt . So any advise ?

I checked on line as to the life expectancy of the GM serpentine belt , they said 10 years or 150,000 miles . I have 39,000 miles on it now but it'* 23 years old so I ordered the AC Delco belt too . Naturally it was the most expensive , hopefully none of these are
Chinese parts .

Now days it is hard to tell where the part is actually made, as most just attach their company label to it.
Chinese or not so far I have not had any issues using anything AC Delco labels as theirs.
After that many years deff a good idea to replace the belt while you are at it.

Got it installed and it'* working as it should , it'* reading a hair under 14 volts on the dash now when I'm running down the road . When I shut it off it'* at 12.5 to 12.6 , then over night it will drop down to 12.1 . What do you think ? Every thing OK or should I have the battery checked ? It has a Sears die hard gold in it from the PO .

12.1v is like a 26-27% charged battery.
Here is a good little read on batteries, charge, load testing, etc...
CARQUEST Batteries - Basic Rules for Battery Care & Maintenance
Since the battery is it is a Diehard Gold , I stopped at Sears today to have it checked and sure enough it is bad . The car runs and starts fine , but when I checked it with my Fluke 87 it looked iffy to me . They quoted me $169.28 to buy in store and have it installed . If I buy on line pick up at store and install myself , with the $5 in bonus points it'* $98.04 .
Take a wild guess which route I'm going to take .
