I assume this is a bad sending uint ?? If so what is the fix or just replace ?? How buig a job and where is a good place to get one ? 2000 Lesabre Limited

try disconnecting the sensor and see if it shows something else. seems more likely something in the cluster. if you have live data scanner, according to the manual its an available value to be seen on the pcm

where is the sensor located ?? I dont really look at the digital readout of the op anyway but if its an easy cheap fix i will do it...i assume the OP light still will function

dont know the difference between the light and gauge. the manual just said the sender feeds the pcm and pcm sends info to cluster via serial data.

on that engine its above the oil filter. you can access from under neath or i have heard of people going through the pass inner fender with the plastic removed. this seems like too much work to me but to each his own

I guess it depends on which platform the engine is in. With the Bonneville'*, you just remove the wheel and splash shield and its staring right at ya. I couldn't fathom trying to remove it from top side. It'* further down than the spark plugs.

Ok I'm thinking that for 41.00 I may not even chg it...I never look at it anyway and I leave it on engine temp....i would still have my low oil light correct??? so just leave it???

I would fix it. What if you have an actual oil pressure problem later on and the gage is not functional?

Yea, I highly suggest you change that sensor. That gauge reading could show you to an impending engine failure if you don't see it.

Or, I can put it this way. If your not going to heed to your cars warnings/recommendations, then why are you here?

well like I said I just figured I never look at this anyway I always have the digital readout on the engine temp...also most car dont even have this digital readout just the oil light which I would still have...also im a cheapo

Not sure how your sender works, but on most newer cars the sender can act as a fuel shut off, for example if the oil pressure reading drops below a certain pressure, yours may not be that way, but if it is and it decides to go from 130 to say 10 psi, then it is possible the car could refuse to start, which could leave you stranded somewhere, for peace of mind I'd get it fixed ASAP.
