I’m hoping y’all are so kind as to help me out here, again.
My Buick developed a slow brake fluid leak a while ago. The leak had dried up for a while but now it is slowly dripping again from the seam between the two parts of the pressure metering (proportioning) valve case. The valve is between the brake line and the master cylinder. More brake pressure = more drip. The valve part number from GM is 18008571; I’m able to locate a few generic drum brake residual valves with 10 PSI – which seem like the way to go. I’m assuming the valve does not have a replaceable interior seal/o-ring and needs to be scrapped. Would you have suggestions about or experience with these parts? You’re suggestions/comments are most welcome.
I'll have to bleed the master and all the lines after removing the part so I'm hoping to get it right the first time around.
Took a while to free up the rear bleeder valves but was able to do so with some patience. Now, I just need to get the right parts.
I'm hoping someone may be able to suggest/recommend a source and/or a specific replacement valve . Napa has a couple and there are a few out there on the web. Coupling the new part to the existing line and master could be a pain...
