Hi all,
New member here. I have a 2010 Lacrosse CXS with the 19" wheels and Touring package with the electronic damping on the rear shocks. My shocks are shot. I have tried to find replacements to no avail. All of the dealerships here say that the shocks are discontinued and that they are unable to order them. They say that there is zero stock showing in any dealership inventories in the whole country. I have tried crossing them with numerous local parts houses as well as ones online with no luck. There is an electrical connector on the shock and from what I can tell, any sensor etc is integrated into the shock itself.

I have called AC Delco whom I thought were the OEM supplier but apparently we not, but they could not provide me with any further info. My local guy spoke at length with Monroe and was told that they couldn't provide anything, not even a conversion.

According to my VIN, the specified shock part numbers are:

84336155 for the rear left

84336156 for the rear right.


The codes associated with the VIN are;

F45 --- Real time damping

GNA --- Front struts

GNE ---- H-arm rear axle

VRN ---- Value Added Rear suspension

Any help with finding replacements for these would be greatly appreciated. At this point the car doesn't feel particularly safe to drive on a rough surface. The rear tires are chopped from the bad shocks.

The car is essentially parked because of the lack of availability of the rear shocks. Thanks for any input or info, Hope everyone has a great day!

Thanks for taking the time to respond, I appreciate it. I checked on those last two listed on the Rockauto page. They are only one number off, mine end in 155 and 156, and those are 157 and 158. But I have been told that they are unfortunately incompatible because of one of the chassis codes. My code is GNA which is apparently just normal front struts. The ones on Rockauto are code GNB which is apparently for an option for "high performance" struts in the front.

I guess that possibly the sensors/valving in the rear shocks need to match the front ones so that everything is right when they talk to the computer for the real time adjustments etc?? I don't know if it would throw a code or not? .

I called a dealership in Houston that is supposed to call GM, so hopefully I will have some better info when I hear back from him. Thanks so much for the input, I really appreciate it.

I looked around for a while, even tried to cross with a related Buick, Cadillac, Opel, and Saab. I can't find them. You might have to convert to regular shocks. That might leave you with a light though. A dealership might be able to turn the light off.

Thanks so much for the effort in trying to track something down, I really appreciate it. Especially for thinking of the Opel and Saab angle, that hadn't occurred to me. If it were my car I wouldn't be adverse to putting regular shocks on there, if I could find an equilivant. I'm not even sure about finding that though because it has a different rear axle, it has an H-arm vs the 4 link on all of the other models, so I am not sure if the geometry is different and if it would accept one of the regular shocks. I'm doing the work on it for my Mom though, and she is 78 and pretty old school about stuff, so if there is a light on the dashboard, she is going to insist on getting it to a dealership etc lol. I would never be able to convince her that is was ok and to ignore it.

You do raise a good point about the dealership possibly being able to turn it off though, I will look into that. I called a dealership in Houston just because I am in a rural area in Louisiana and figured that they may have had to address this before in a larger population. The guy there called GM and is waiting on a call back.

I heard back from the dealership in Houston. They checked the "engineer'* notes" on the page that stated the shocks were discontinued. The engineer'* notes said that the shocks were in the process of being reinstated (reintroduced into production). The dealership called GM and spoke to a tech that confirmed this. He could not say when but speculated it would be within 4 weeks.

Wow, that'* cool.

I'd guess they were in production while they were building the cars, then went out of production while owners wore out their shocks, then back into production so they could sell replacements.
