In the first pic, look at the bottom center area, that area needs to be flush with the rest of the pipe, and it was protruding past the pipe inner shaft, which creates a problem using the tool correctly.
Even the socket/adapter needs to be flush with the tube for it to work just right, which is why I had to grind on it as well.
You need to put the right socket/adapter on the inner tie rod, and then slide the tool over the tie rod until it clicks that socket/adapter into place in the shaft of the tie rod tool, you cannot put the socket/adapter in the tool and then get it on the tie rod.
