Yea it'* a huge PITA, I broke the one on my 03 Bonne and had the replacement sitting in a tote. Never replaced it before I got rid of the car because there was enough of the handle attached to release the hood and I didn't want to bother with the work.

FYI, The round thing visible partway along the cable is the grommet to seal where it goes through the firewall.
