Default High beams Turn Signal Stalk?- 2000 LeSabre

New to our family today is this 83k mile 4dr sedan/ ( soft ride )cruiser.

Does anyone know...when I pull back on the turn stalk why the high beams only stay on while i hold it back? I thought like the PA they click once on, click again for off.
How hard is it to replace the turn stock if that needs replacement due to a broken spring or switch etc. Sorry no 2000 lesabre FSM here.
Info would be greatly appreciated...

Sounds like a bad stalk. Not too hard to replace, if it'* anything like the Century. Just gotta be careful not to break the plastic around the column.

Thanks Travis...now that u mentioned century I found this video where u dont have to remove the wheel/airbag etc to get at er.
I guess I should consult a FSM though...
Many say u need to remove wheel and stuff.
I think just the lower & upper covers to get at the bolts holding in the stalk is a lot easier.. if possible..

is it replacing your 97? that one looks to be in pretty good shape. i really like the lesabres, imo they look alot better than the other buicks

No keeping my Park Ave !
My nephew got his X-mas present....
His 91 regal was way too high mile (270k) for me /shops to keep working on.....we had enough of it.
There were no local low mile Pk Aves to be found so...
Found this Lesabre Ltd locally, no accidents, clean and very well maintained with receipts. New brakes, battery,fresh alignment, new tires etc etc, ready to go except for a rad flush. Everything else including plugs wires etc has already recently been serviced. Probably going to do the rad flush & trans pan drop and Dex 6 for him in New year. Will have to replace the stalk too if he really wants to have the high beams working. That is the only thing wrong I could find, everything else including AC and defroster grid works and clean.
I like the looks of the Lesabre too. It really is not the width or larger trunk like PA.
This lesabre does have leather power seat with manual seat back which is kinda strange to me as my PA has full electric on seats incl the seat back function.
Overall I think this newer car will serve him well and I wont have to be fixing it every month..Thank goodness.

sounds like a good car. lesabres have some weird options it seems. i was looking the other day and saw a 03 with a hud like the bonnies

William I am not sure on UIM/ or LIM caskets. (lol)
I showed him how to remove the top cover & did mention that they can be a problem and to keep an eye on any leaks, reservoir level & oil conditions.
I thought that sometime next year we may do both my PA and his sabre.
Lets pit it this way my PA looks worse than his newer sabre...re the uim/lim caskets !

its actually very easy to replace the stalk. all the w bodies and h bodies of that era have the same stalk. only thing to look out for is if it has wheel cruise or not. (kinda pointless to have a non functioning cruise control on the new stalk). all you need is a SAFETY torx bit set and a 1/4" wrench to put on the bit for the screw behind the airbag. DONT FORGET the hidden torx screw on the bottom of the column cover. ive done that twice. once on my moms century and once on my car. both times resulted in a trip to the junkyard.


also, if you are weary of wrenching on the brittle plastic, it helps to unbolt the gauge cluster because you have to tilt the top half pretty hard to get it out from behind the airbag.
