Default Front Windshield Wiper Doesn't Work !! Randezvous 2002

Hello everyone.. My Buick Randezvous 2002 windshields stopped working today as I was wiping left overs from the snow last night.. the back one works fine !! Now when I turn them on I can hear the motor humming but the wipers just won't function !! I tried changing the fuse but no luck.. I just wanna put my hand on the problem to see if it is affordable to be fixed by a mechanic.. any help would be really appreciated... thank you

Check the linkages. It'* possible something came loose. Also find the wiper motor and make sure it'* actually moving, not just sitting there single phasing.

There should be a bar connecting the motor to the wiper are. That'* what makes the arms move back and forth.

I think you mean the wiper transmission ? I went for my mechanic to perform oil change and to check what'* wrong with my wipers.. he told me that I need a new wiper transmission.. but does that mean I need new wiper motor as well ??

You will need to see if the motor is turning. If it is then is the transmission turning on the other end? If not, then ya, the transmission is bad. But I wanted you to check and make sure the linkages are connected.
