I noticed today that its 85 degs outside and when sitting in my car idiling for a period the gage went to 225 or 226 ?? Isnt this too high ?? I have the lower tstat in it and have flushed the coolant every year, its VERY clean, the fans were running and when I drove it it dropped to like 200 ??? Your coolant fans are programmed for the low speed fans to come on at 216F and the high speed at 228F.

What you say seems pretty normal.

Sounds normal. But if the fans don't come on at 228, you can turn your a/c on-It'll turn on the fans. If this is the only way it will cool down, there might be a problem, but i don't think thats the case here.

I'm not sure how hot until bad things happen..probably around 250 or more. But yeah, at 228, the fans will come on and cool it down, at least if everything is working properly it should.

You can put a 160* thermostat in and it will still get that hot when not moving, because the fans are programed to come on at a set temp. That set point can be changed, but you need a programmer to do that.
