ok how do i check to see if my pintle is dirty ( that just sounds wrong ) ?

You remove the valve and inspect it.

oh the egr valve..well i usually jus unplug i take the two nuts off and lift it from its base

Unplug the EGR solenoid, remove the 2 bolts holding the solenoid down, and remove it. There you go.
