Hello - The controls on the steering wheel stopped working, meaning the light on the buttons come on but they are not working for example - The cruise control button light comes on but when I hit set nothing happens; and the media control don't work either. How do I identify and troubleshoot this issue ?
Depends on your skill level and aversion to risk.
If you do try to do it yourself, make sure to disconnect the battery and the airbag first.
While we're here, there is a chance that the clockspring isn't the problem. It is just the most likely cause of your symptoms.
Have you had any work done on it recently?

Oh yeah, that'* related. Brake fluid eats things.
I wouldn't chase the clock spring theory now that we know this.
I'd start by rinsing everything well, with plain water, especially on/around/under the master cylinder. After that, start tracing things to look for damage.

You need to inspect much deeper than looking at the top of it. Should probably get under it and inspect everywhere that brake fluid could have gotten. Probably should look under the dash as well.
What I see is the following:
1. Steering wheel controls working well
2. Brake fluid spilled all over
3. Steering wheel controls not working well
If I missed a step there, please let me know.
