hey art, it could be a loose fitting. right up under the passenger footwell is where they butt connect with an air grabber? cylinder. its a fairly easy job with there being a butt connector there. my dads 99 rusted thru near the back seat and i custom made both lines going to the back in just under a hour and had them back on. having those butt connectors just after the firewall is a real help. almost like they expected them to rust out. hmmmmm. seems like they would use stainless on such a part.

you are on your own for corrosion protection it seems, if you read the gm warranty now the only way they would pay any claim on rust would be if you are in Arizona or California. and i am sure they put parts on it in accordance with this. my 07 already had a gas line rot out and i had it undercoated so if you make it 14-15 yrs you are doing pretty good

Asked him to flush entire brake system as well. That should help to eliminate dirt /dust particulate matter, or anything that got ingested into system, incl air !
I can only imagine how old that fluid might be..
Wonder if line is solid rust in area that gave way..soon to find out...

The Park Ave is ready ! Comments from Mechanic...she just blew,(old age) and I replaced two sections of brake hose at $39 each, 1 hour labor, fluid, $200 ur good to go again.
Looks like I have leave a bit more early today, to take the bus to shop, then pick up my PA before work then!

Looking at a replacement for the Bravada, a salesman asked me to just look at a 2000 Lexus RX-300 from the salt belt of the Midwest, 135,000 miles. I went underneath and looked at the fuel and brake lines. Not a sign of corrosion. Lexus coated them as part of the manufacturing process. Unlike my garage kept Bravada which brakes lines rusted through at 60,000 miles. And the Bravada brake lines run along the frame and over the fuel tank, making replacement a huge job.

GM did its loyal northern customers wrong by not spending a few bucks more per vehicle and either coating the lines or using copper-nickle lines like the European manufactures do.

alot of the foreign cars run the lines different too so its not out in the crap. not gm though, the people with the full size trucks after 99 they put the abs pump and everthing all under there, and poeple have troubles with them all the time. to me its a bad saftey issue you dont intentionally design the most important system on the car to be in the salt and crap, thats just dumb. when i do lines i dont follow the original path i run them out of the crap.

Out of all of this, I want to stress how important it is to know your car'* stopping capability and how important a proper adjustment for your e-brake or parking brake really is!! (ask me how I know)
When I first bought the Park Ave the first thing was new brakes all the way around, and using the FSM ensuring the parking brake was adjusted correctly at caliper stops.
Next was to test the car'* stopping ability to stop, should your main pedal brakes ever fail! Ya that'* right...So out in a large parking lot at night, I will get up to 30 mph and without touching the brake pedal, will drop the car'* transmission down into first, while applying the foot e-brake and back into neutral, before the dead stop, to see how it does and to know what to expect, or further adjustment needed...
So when this incident happened I was completely aware of what to do immediately. I was even able to drive the car the 6km to the shop in traffic, without ever applying the main brake pedal !!
Next is also to teach others these types of controlled maneuvers, whether it is with an auto or stick. And if stick, show also how to hold on hill with parking brake applied, and release, to safely hold a car, not to roll backwards.
I also know what to expect in all my vehicles should it stall, by putting transmission into neutral, turn car off , (not into lock ) and see what u have left for brakes and steering compliance.
