Default Ac compressor

I have a 2011 Buick LaCrosse my ac compressor stays on and sounds like the bearing is bad. Is there any way to disengage the clutch until repairs are made?

I think that system uses a variable displacement compressor. I don't have the info on it.

So the clutch plate is spinning with the pulley at all times that the engine is running?

Or does it make noise, when the AC is not on, but goes away when the AC is turned on?
