Default 99 LeSabre front driver floorboard water leak

I've owned my 99 LeSabre for about 6 years now, and hands down it'* my favorite overall daily ride(don't tell my other cars though). While it'* been a pretty solid car overall I've had so many different water leaks in this car it makes my head spin. What currently has me stumped is the driver'* floorboard getting wet. About 4 years ago I thought I had this solved for good when I removed the wipers and cowl cover which revealed the air inlet for the HVAC system. There is a raised plastic collar that sticks up through the cowl, presumably with a foam rubber seal on the underside. I ran a bead of silicone around it and it'* been dry ever since. Or should I say it was until this past Tuesday. I noticed a musty smell and pulled up my floor mat to find it damp. Not soaked but I've dealt with this enough to know that if the carpet is even the slightest bit damp the jute padding underneath is soaked. I have come across several good write ups with pictures where others had come to the same conclusion, that it was the inlet collar at the cowl. One member with a 93 went as far as to yank the dash which was inconclusive. I've been there, I pulled mine in the driveway about 5 years ago trying to solve this but to no avail.

What I know is that the water comes down from behind the dash at the firewall, just to the right of the accelerator pedal. Comes from behind the rubber backed foam sound insulation. It'* got to be a cowl area or windshield leak. I'm wondering if anyone else has solved this problem, as I really would like to get this solved once and for all.

Weird.

My `97 LeSabre has never had a leak except for a windshield job gone bad. Windshield guy fixed it quickly.

I'll go look at mine and see if there are any obvious potential leak points in the firewall and get back to you.

On "H" cars, I found a lot of water leaks because of the seal in the water barrier of the doors was bad...... but coming from the dash area is usually a problem with a seam sealer......
