Howdy all!

Starter R&R. Destroyed the plastic thing surrounding starter because it was blocking the mounting bolts. I installed replacement starter without it.

What will be the consequences if I don't get a new plastic thing?

Slight possibility of dirt and water getting in there but probably nothing to worry about.

Yeah, that'* what I figured. Starter mounted to engine same as on every other GM I've owned from previous years. Besides, I live in Fort Worth, TX where we haven't seen more than 3 decent rainstorms in 3 years! Starter has a lifetime warranty, so if it goes bad from water, I'll get a new shield when I replace starter. Thanks!

I "lost" mine years ago. No issues yet.

Yeah, Mike1995, I saw that thing, tried to figure it out, then got a knife to trim it to get a socket on it. Knife was dull, I was pissed. 'nuff said!
