OOPS! Just reread the test instructions. With key to "on" position, pressure reads about 15 psi. GM says pressure should be 48-55 psi. Weak fuel pump?

Usually the FPR'* just leak fuel past and right back into the intake causing horrible fuel mileage and sometimes even worse problems like blown up intake plenums.

And because your car is a 97, I'm sure it still has the OEM pump. Which don't last forever.

Like Mike said you could have a clogged fuel filter, try replacing that and recheck fuel pressure, if it does not come up to spec your pump may be failing, if you replace it go with an AC Delco or Delphi pump, you may pay a little more for them, but they are worth the investment!
Some of the cheaper pumps do not last long at all.

Ok. changed fuel filter, now showing 30 psi. weak fuel pump? New problem- drove car to parts store to get the filter. After changing filter, car wont start. No noise or anything. Acts like dead battery. Put charger on it and set it to 50 amps for quick start. Hear grrr grrr grrr but starter won't kick in. when I put charger on 10 amps, nothing happens when I turn key, no noise or anything. All lights come on, and flicker when turning the key over. suggestions on that also? Gremlins have invaded!!!

No gremlins. Either really bad battery or battery cables.

probably got gremlins. should take it to the exterminator.

clean up the cables(all big cables and both ends should be shiny, then recoat with dielectric grease) and have the battery load tested at the parts store
