:o One other thing, I am a little unsure about, with my valve cover gaskets, I know a new set & grommets will run me around 18.00, and that it is good to replace them, but I am really tight on money, and to be honest the grommets as well as both gaskets look almost new to me.
Could I get by with using them over, and replacing them later on when I can better afford to?

just get some high temp silicone and run a light coat around the gaskets and forget about the grommets. some cars you have to make the gaskets completely out of silicone it will be fine

Thanks, I'll have some of the black ultra RTV, I'll give the valve cover gaskets a light coat of it, the grommets I am not worried about, I can reuse them, they are in great shape, so I'd hate throw them away and not reuse them.

I've been doing some thinking about what was said in the first post "Also, I believe the computer controls pulse by grounding the injectors, and the quickest way to check for pulse is to take a 193/194 bulb, unplug the injector"
If indeed none of my injectors are pulsing like the mechanic said, what would a list of possible culprits be?
All I know of are the following.
PCM injector circuit
Injector fuse near the fuel pump relay
Possibly fuel pump relay also
Bad ground somewhere maybe. (not sure where or how to check, I do know how to test each for ground though)
CKP & possibly CMP
If I am wrong on any of those, or anybody knows any additional info about those, or any other issues that could be the culprit, it would be appreciated.

I am trying to do that, I totally understand I should do one thing at a time, the only reason I'm thinking ahead is that I already know my fuel pressure is fine, unless the mechanic lied, or did not know what he was doing, he said 40 something, I'm pretty sure he said 47 PSI once he replaced the fuel pump, I'm assuming he was competent enough to wait and watch the pressure, to see if it holds, I don't think anything I'm doing with the UIN & LIM Gasket repair will change what the fuel pressure was.
So I'll still keep trying to learn what I can about the EFI system, because eventually I'm going to need to know it a lot better than I do.
I'll try to keep my focus on the IM for now though, thanks for helping me, it is appreciated greatly.

Doh, meant UIM, is there not a way to edit your post if you notice a typo, or is that something reserved for site donators?
Focusing on the LIM for now, do you have any tipe for cleaning up what you see in this pic?
NOTE: Pic was before blocking off the air and coolant ports.
I'd like to know if there is anything safe to spray over the center of the car, where the engine balancer is?
Is there anything I can use to spray my rocker arms off a bit, and or a easy way to get some of the old oil remaining in there out?
Are any of those ports cleanable, or would any of the gunk I break loose possibly do more harm than good?
The coolant ports are not too bad, but the air ports look pretty gunky.

theres a time limit for editing
i think if you use carb or brake cleaner it will be alright, you are going to have to change the oil anyway to be sure no crap got in there

I decided to take the throttle body gasket off of the old UIM, even though I am not reusing it, I wanted to see how the plastic where the coolant passes through the throttle body, and upon taking the gasket off I noticed some of the plastic around the are of those ports break off, so I lightly used a pick and picked at some more of the material around the second coolant port to the TB, and it fell apart like it was old brittle rubber or something, so I am really glad I am not reusing the UIM that was out on there in 96' when it was made.

Thanks a lot for the response, I will use some carb cleaner, I was told I could pour a little oil in and let it run out, I'm just unsure of exactly where to pour it,
I already drained the oil, and checked for metal bits, and found none.
But, the oil drain plug is still out due to it needing a replacement gasket, do I can easily spray it all off and pour a little oil in, and let it run out, I just need to know where to pour, and not to pour the oil.
I'd not pour it over the engine balancer would I, does oil coat that as it rotates or something?
