Merged nearly duplicate threads. Please do not start multiple threads for the same issue.

Post 2 and 3 of the resulting thread are from the second thread. Left both post 1 and 2 intact as they each have a little bit of different information.

Much of what I'd say has been covered.

Are you certain that the filter is sealing tightly with the pickup?

I believe the filter is in all the way but that’* easy enough to check.
Sorry about the double post. Thought I was editing the original post but ended up making another one. Then I couldn’t find a way to delete it.

You have no slack at idle!?

When car is off, is there that small travel but against some spring resistance, like, the cable itself wants to pull back against your finger, not a terrible lot but certainly not none. Then when running, its taught but not tight? How is the cable routing? How is your vacuum modulator piped to the engine? How is the vacuum distribution block doing?
Did you adjust your shifter linkage by putting your shifter in the proper detent then matching the cable to the transmission also moved to the proper detent? Usually down to 1 then pushing forward and moving up till it stops(neutral?), but check for your car. The transmission could be different than 4t65e so i wont speak to that, but it has a way to verify "neutral" is usually the detent for both
