2008 Buick LaCrosse fuel level sensor problem
#11
I buy gas all over.
Don’t know about an inspection cover; the dealer has fixed it every time (It’* still under warranty and I don’t want to do anything to screw that up) and I think they always drop the tank. I’ll let them fix it this time also. It’* very annoying. Anyone know if this as a common problem with this car?

New owner here but similar problem on my 2007 Allure (LaCrosse). I had noticed the gauge acting strangely, and ended up out of gas on the side of the road once. Made me upset, but I got gas from a farmer and went off wondering how I couldn't have noticed that I was out of gas. Oh well. All'* well that ends well.
Last night I was responding to a panicked call from my Daughter begging to help when I ended up stranded o nte side of a country road. The fuel gauge showed 1/4 tank, but the car was dead. Having only had the car for afew weeks, I was upset that this "new-to-me" GM Optimum car was letting me down so quickly.
Activated on-star and got roadside assistance to take the car to the nearest dealer. Got a call from the dealer this morning that they will replace the fuel pump for $1300.
This morning I thought through the last week and it occurred to me that its been about 4 days since I filled up. In that time I have travelled about 600 km - a tankful of gas. I am betting the tank is just empty and the sending unit is faulty.

Further correspondence between myself and the dealer had the problem fixed for $10.00 under warrantee. I'm happy again. Sounds like they took the same approach as your dealer and replaced the whole pump assembly.
Next time it comes up I'll get it replaced with aftermarket parts and hope the problem goes away. From what you are saying I have bought myself about a year.

I have a 2013 Lacrosse eassist and dealer just fixed the same problem for my car, they say GM issued a bulletin pi1161A in February 2014 (may be specific to Canada where I am, but I doubt it). Before the fix my fuel guage needle would be 1/16th tank below full and also when running tank to empty with low fuel light on there was too much gas in the tank, 10 liters remaining in 60 liter tank. After the fix my fuel guage needle is slightly higher but still not all the way to full, but when low fuel light comes on I now have 4.5 liters remaining, which is much better and gives me better range on the trip computer, i.e. I can travel further before wondering if I'm going to run out of gas.
