You need to use an offset head wrench, like this.....

Oh, yeah, lets get technical......the plug is actually called a casting plug, but ask 99.9% of people what this plug is and they will call it a 'freeze plug"......so yes the .1% of you that comment on the EXACT name of this part being a "casting plug" are SUPER SMART.....geeze, why aren't you running the world........for the rest of us 99.9% people.....we will call it a freeze plug and still be just as right as you.

I remember Dad telling me that the plug was used to clean out the sand after casting when I was just a little girl helping him by handing him tools. Hopefully eventually the 99.9% will stop telling others that it is a freeze plug when it is not. Being correct on things is important.
