Default 2004 Buick Regal 3.8L

Good afternoon all.
I am working on this car and looking to verify my interpretation of my findings.

The car is stalling intermittently.

Service engine light came on.

I connected an OTC scan tool and pulled code P0102. Mass air flow sensor "A". Does this car have two MAF'*? There is a two wire sensor in the corrugated tube between the air cleaner and the housing that the MAF sensor is located. What is that? It has a "glass" bulb that extends into where the air flows.

The scan tool doesn't read any air flow, g/*. It reads 177hz, which I was able to verify, intermittently, with a digital multi-meter. Using the digital multi-meter, I also read 2.6VDC on the signal lines( yellow & black?) and 14 VDC on the feed circuit (red?) The voltage does not fluctuate when the idle is raised manually.

I removed the MAF sensor to clean it. The internals were shiny and intact. I sprayed some MAF cleaner on the four leads with no change in color. I believe it has been replaced with a rebuilt unit (the top cover seems to have been resealed). The MAF sensor is not OEM.

Am I missing anything?

I am leaning towards the MAF being bad, but am hesitant to change without knowing what the other sensor is.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Lou

MAF serves as an air meter and also IAT.
Tap the sensor and if the engine stumbles it'* bad. If it is ok with tapping doesn't mean it'* good.
Look at the FF and see if any PID'* stand out.

Regrets for the late reply!
No PID'* out of wack except the MAF sensor. It was running at approximately 500hz.
I unplugged it and the car ran fine.
Purchased a GM reman MAF sensor.
Car started and ran fine.
New MAF sensor operated at approximately 2,600hz, 2.8VDC at idle.

Thanks

Lou
