Default 2001 LeSabre engine problem

My neighbor has a 2001 LeSabre that is running rough. Has around 80,000 miles and still had original plugs and wires so I replaced them.
Started it and it ran and idled smooth. Drove it back into the garage and it stopped idling and would die. Giving it gas to keep it running and it would run very uneven and
I was smellng gas. Does this sound like fuel injection problems?

I would check the fuel pressure regulator, and clean the throttle body.

Did it run smoothly before replacing plugs and wires?

Was there any problem with it before the plugs and wires?

No, it was doing the same as it is now. I thought plugs and wires would help.

The problem turned out to be the Mass Airflow Sensor. Thank you for trying to help.

That'* where I was going next. Glad you got it figured it out. Thanks for letting us know what fixed it!
