harmonic balancer removal techniques?
Hi! This may be the easiest question in long time! I didn't want to ruin it and have to go buy another one.
You know those three, 2-1/2" bolts, 1/4" -28? Well, I have finally found them. It took a while to locate some but finally I was able to get these 3 I got. I wanted them to be 3" long but all I could fine were 2 1/2" long ones.
My question is what do I do now??
I got the puller piece, the thick long shaft bolt that'* the same threads as the giant crankshaft pulley bolt that came out of it(btw, almost impossible to get it out! it was crazy!!)
Anyway, so I finally found 3 of these 1/4"-28'* that are barely long enough I believe so I was hoping I could sort of get a little bit of the next steps to take to get this crankshaft pulley off. You know, like the set up before I start wrenching the pulley off of there? Then I can finally replace the CPS! Thanks!!

This is what I got and what I've set up so far. The threads on the 1/4"-28'* are in there about 3 or 4 turns, hand tight only. Don't I need some kind of shaft maybe, to go into the pulley where the main bolt came out of, before I screw in the threaded puller'* giant bolt?
Thanks for any steps here. I dont want to damage the pulley and somebody told me if I had kept on with the 3 jaw I was starting to use, I would've ruined the pulley! Really? So I stopped before I tightened the 3 jaw to hard. Thx again!

How about the M6x1.0 bolts versus the 1/4"-28'*? Is that an important decision? Like is one safer than the other maybe?
Thanks! (I'm still brand newbie so I appreciate the patience, a lot!)

Its off! Yaa. Now for the CPS removal and reinstallation. Then back on it goes, so I'm sure you've probably already predicted what I'm gonna try to inquire next- the putting it back on info! I think I got most of it figured out at this point but was wondering, when I press it back on, is it simply the same way I took it off but turning the bolt the other way maybe? Also, do you think there is a one particular way thats better than other ways to install the actual CPS? Thanks!!
I turned it clockwise, it slowly came off. Now the only thing I'm wondering about next is the getting it back on trick. Well, that and the CPS being lined up correctly. Thx for all help! A lot!!

I believe the CPS is not adjustable, so assuming the new sensor is a proper replacement, it should just plop right in there.
Most reinstall by aligning it (it should be keyed, so it only goes on in one position) and just pressing it back on with the bolt.

You are correct rjolly87! Its back on. I did it sort of slowly. A little at a time, with the bolt that came out of it. Its all back together ow and I put some red stuff on the bolt and tightened it to about 110lbs. Its on there tight as a ducks stuff.
I'm wondering why theres a motor mount in the way of the drive belt. Hmm. Seems kind of bizarre, or crazy maybe!
Thanks for the info rjolly87, JoelD! Helps a lot!

111lbs to be exact, 110lbs is close enough.
