Default 1998 Buick Lesabre 3800 airbag disable

I’ve got to do some body and sub-frame alignment and I’m searching for a way of doing this without any interference from airbag deployment. I’d like to disable them so this work can be completed. Assessment has pointed that the AC condenser, along with the radiator will have to come out. Any help on this will be great.

Disconnect the battery for 10 minutes prior to work.

I agree with carfixer007 about disconnecting the battery ^^^^^^^

You can also unplug the yellow connectors under the dash.

The question I have is: Are you disabling airbags just for a condenser and radiator replacement? Or are you getting into it further where you'll have to mess with airbag sensors etc.?

Aside from the radiator and condenser being removed, I’m going to have to pull or place the sub in line so that everything is suitable for oem driving. The disability prevents any damage to the interior, as I do intend on a restoration of a great automobile. This is for safety and protection of the investment and myself.

From 1998 Lesabre service Data.

If the 1998 Lesabre uses the same airbags as a 1998 Park avenue(possible) then you for sure dont want to accidentally set it off. Not only does it HURT. (I had a nice mark on my chin for a long time after..) it smells like Lutefisk, and I cannot explain if you dont know what that smells like but its not pleasant and its also oddly pervasive. My old park avenue sat in the yard for at least 6 months after deployment and it smelled just like it had gone off the day I moved it, and it was mere weeks to when I sold it to someone for parts.

The smell.... lol

I’ve got a replacement condenser, but there is work I need to do to get all the panels lined up correctly. It seems that the car wash viscously damaged, and I’d like to bring it up to par. I doing I don’t want to trigger a deployment as this will do damage …. So yes, I am going to take the front of the car apart to the sub frame so I can get it straight….., and back to spec.
