Default 1995 Buick LeSabre Custom cruise control

The cruise light comes on when I press the button and sometimes the cruise will work and hold the speed but most of the time when I hit the button the light comes on but the speed doesn’t hold but the light stays on unless I hit the brakes or turn the cruise switch to off. What would be the problem?

No telling until you scan the car for B codes. The typical Autozone scanners won't touch B codes. Especially the 95'*. Time for the dealer to put the Tech2 on it, or its ancestor Tech1.

I agree with Mike, and suggest that it could be the cruise-control unit has gone bad or become disconnected etc. At the very least you can externally inspect it and its various connections. It is the strange black box on the top of the firewall next to the driver'*-side strut tower.

Is the on/off switch in the the steering wheel or on the end of the directional lever?

Are the bulbs in your center stop lamp ok?

Is this an electronic cruise system, or vacuum operated(follow linkage from throttle body back to cruise unit to see if it has a bellows)?

As Mike stated, you need something like a Tech II scanner to read the inputs from the cruise switches, to verify they are ok.......could even be a bad PCM....

Other possibilities are, misadjusted brake switch.....misadjusted brake vacuum switch.....lack of vacuum to cruise servo.......or bad servo.....

With a vac pump and a wiring diagram, the servo(vac) can be tested....
