Default 1992 buick park avenue won't go over 40 mph

I have a 1992 Park ave and yesterday I was driving on high in traffic and all the sudden it wouldn't go over 35-40 mph. When I put on the accelerator under 40 mph there was a lot of hesitation and jerking and once I got to about 40mph I couldn't go any faster but I didn't notice the idle or rpm going high. I stopped for about 10 min and it drove fine but then when I was back on highway in my way home last night same thing happened. Can anyone tell me what this problem might be?

How many miles are on it?

How many miles are on the spark plugs?

How many miles are on the spark plug wires?

How long have you owned the car?

How many miles have you put on it?

Are there any codes stored in the computer?

At what RPM is it having these problems?

This engine is supercharged (not turbocharged), right?

Throttle position sensor or clogged cat.

If from a dead start, you floor the car and it bogs down, revs to 3K and doesn't shift........then come to a stop, and very lightly accelerate, and if the vehicle shifts and gets up to speed, then I agree you may have a cat problem.......
