Default 1990 Buick MAF Scan Data 1150 gs

Basically, I’m trying to understand how to test this thing.

I’m confused about the MAF data because I’ve seen conflicting information online. Would anyone happen to know the typical range of MAF g/* at idle in closed loop or preferably against RPM? Also did this car come with the hot wire or cold wire MAF? For reference, I have attached a picture of the appropriate replacement part.

I’m scanning it with an actron scanner and getting approx. 1150 gs at idle in closed loop – it has been giving a reading like this at idle for years. RPM is normal at idle. Do I need to measure hz or voltage or can I rely on this gs reading through the range of RPM?

Thank you much!

RoT is 1g/sec per liter at idle. You seem to think 1150 g/* is OK?

I'm sorry, I don't understand. I've been planning to replace the MAF and have a new part here but was unable to confirm the correct range. Also, i'm having issues now with vacuum, the vacuum block needed to be repaired and an elbow is leaking, and i'm having a lean condition. So I figured I'd ask the question about the MAF while i'm tinkering with the vacuum, and before installing the new MAF, air filter, cleaning the intake. The manual indicates typical Gm/Sec grams/second of 4-7 at idle. I don't understand how my MAF is showing 1150 and there are no codes...so I'm thinking maybe the scanner is screwy, the manual is wrong, or i'm reading it wrong. Just trying to verify what the range should be, maybe from closed throttle to wide open throttle. This info will also help me to verify that the new and extremely inexpensive part that I'm about to install is giving a relatively accurate reading. Thank you. BB.

So the manual indicates the following.

A WOT acceleration from a stop should cause the MAF reading on the Scan to range from about 4.7 at idle to 100 or greater at the time of the 1-2 shift.

Seems like an answer.

You need to fix the vacuum leaks before ALL other testing.
