Default What is the color of the rear turn signal bulb Bonny GXP?

Upgrading the rear lights on my Bonny from SSEi config to GXP config. The bulb I pulled out from the replacement GXP lights was a RED colored 3157. when to 3 parts stores, can only find orange bulbs. Went to the dealer, they told me orange also.

Is RED the proper color for the rear turn signal bulb?

It depends on what color the lens is. If it was originally amber, clear or amber will work. If it was cleared, you will need red. If it'* red, clear or red will do. The idea is, you have to maintain the original concept design. Red. Amber, Clear.

The lens is clear. When I went to AutoZone, Advance Auto, Napa and RockAuto, none carry a red 3157 bulb. Dealer stated GM does not have red rear turn signal bulbs.

Trying to get to the bottom of this. I will have to go with amber on both sides unless i can figure out where to get the red bulb.

With the GXP, the bulb can be amber, it is no big deal. Plenty of cars have amber turn signals.

If you feel you HAVE to have red bulbs in the turn signals, you can get them online, or even check some of the truck stops as well that tailor to customizing trucks.

Thanks for the replies. Found them on Ebay, was unable to find them on Amazon, Rock, AutoZone, Advance Auto or a large GM dealer.

Glad you found some! The GXP'* have a clear lens over the signals and the back-up lights. So, from the factory the bulbs were amber. Just an fyi

Tyler,

Thanks for posting how the GXP comes out of the factory. The dealer parts counter looked at me like I was nuts when I asked for the red bulbs.

Amber is the correct color for ANY Bonneville rear turn signal. Whoever had those lights before you just put in red bulbs. While this is legal, since A LOT of American cars use the the brake light as a turn signal also, I find it stupid.

I prefer to have an amber turn signal, it "pops" away from the rest of the red whenever you're slowing down/stopped.
