Default Weird clicking noise

Every so often, I hear a set of three or four quick clicks coming from the back of the car on the driver side. My 2000 SSEi did it too, but I chalked it up to the locking gas cap mechanism. The GXP doesn't have this (at least mine doesn't), so I'm not sure what the sound could be. I don't think it'* a problem, I'm just curious. Anyone know?

If it is under braking... then it is just the calipers they are a floating caliper and will make that click click then click when you let off the brake.

I wonder if you could be hearing a (bad) compressor for the auto leveling struts? In my 96 it has gotten so old that all I can hear is it clicking. But I think that is on the passenger'* side, not sure.

Sorry for the delay in posting back. Busy with the holidays and all....

The clicking is random. Happens at any time. The funny thing is that it'* 3 or 4 loud clicks, in a pattern. The same pattern every time.
