Speedometer + HUD not working
with pcm. I/P, CCM, HUD disconnected test vehicle speed signal circuit.
check resistance from PCM to all three speed signal terminal ends should be 0 ohms.
check resistance from PCM to ground should be no reading
with key on run test for voltage from pcm to ground should be 0

well as far as checking for a short to ground or high resistance, the circuit read .02ohms. So that tells me there is a short to ground. Means i have to follow the wire back to the IPC and inspect it Right?
Correct me if i am wrong but a short to ground means the wire is broken or grounded out some where along the line. What if i used a jumper wire and bypassed the factory wire, would this harm anything as long as i used a fused jumper?

Short to ground means a grounded wire, an "open" ground would be a broken wire. Either would be a problem. A jumper wire would be fine, but should be the same size of what your replacing or resistance could be a problem in the long run.

Well i tried using a jumper wire, and no luck, and i traced the wire back to the fire wall and into the dash. Also checked the grounds on the driver kick panel and the passenger kick panel. They all looked good and tested good. The VSS wire overall looked fine and checked good for any breaks. According to the diagnostic troubleshooting guide the final step for what i found says to replace the IPC. My only dilema is the HUD recieves it'* speed signal before the IPC and it doesn't read anything but 0. so replacing the IPC does not make sense to me. What about you guys?
