Northstar V8 in my '98 SSEi?
Well, on my last trip to the pick-a-part, I found a salvaged (rear-ended) '02 DTS with a good engine... And I got to thinking, would that bastard fit in my SSEi, tranny and all?
I want objective, unbiased opinions here. Simple, yes or no. None of that "It'd take a lot of work" BS. My mom'* daily-driver is a twin-turbo minivan that we built ourself. What I'd like to know is if the complete Caddy drivetrain would mate with the Bonneville (electronics, sensors, etc.)

Electronics and sensors, no. Motor mounts would need to be custom, as the Northstar never saw an H body. You'd need the Engine, 4T80E, PCM, and entire engine wiring harness. The factory service manuals for your car and the donor car would really be a must to get all the instrumentation working again.

Left something important out......PM Speedguy here, he'* the owner of www.domesticperformance.com and has done alot of investigative work on this very subject. He'* probably your best resource.

Id think for the mounts.. how it has 2 pivit points on top of the rad... so you might want the rad/ out of the dts too.. figure out how wide it is... you might want a DTS front clip.

You have lots of power you can open up from your engine, a simple pulley, exhaust and intake is another 50HP/Ft lbs more!

trofeo, I'll head out to the junkyard in the next few days to check it out. The front end looked perfect on the salvaged DTS so we'll see. If I did need to swap complete front ends, this engine swap may be a no-go; that'* a lot more work than I'd like.
BonneMeMN, hell, I'd pull the fully built 350 out of my Camaro if there was a FWD tranny for it! It'd be one more excuse to drop a big block in my old SS. :p

were there some Olds from the early 70'* that had FWD 350'* in them?

A chain drive was mounted to the truncated transmission and the remainder of the transmission and differential mounted below for FWD applications. There'* a good picture of one at http://www.hughes.net/~gcifu/eldosaurpark/pwrtrn.html. If GM followed form on the TH-325, it should be a TH-350 simularly altered for front-wheel-drive use. TH-425, used from '66-'78.
