Default GXP / SLE Fog lamps and Intermediate steering shafts

Just got off the phone with a rep from customer service center with concerns with the fog lamps and steering shaft problem I have been having. I'm on my fourth set of fog lamps and just had the steering shaft replaced for the second time with less than 10,000 miles on my '04 GXP. She said she did some research on these two items because I called earlier. She said that Pontiac has no "history or data" on anyone having these problems. I would suggest that if any members has one of these concerns that they contact the CSC, so they can compile some data on these cars.

It sounds like she was giving you a line of BS, or else she didn't know how to check the history of these problems.

She said that she checked her resourses and also called the dealership and was told that there was nothing that they found that was defective on thier end. Evidently the dealerships are not passing anything on to GM. Although if its warranty work they should have some kind of records, don't ya think

I think there are a few people who work at GM dealers. Wait for one of them to chime in. I hope my da*n fog lamps last longer than that.

I've gone through one set of fogs already after 1 1/2 years. Also, just last week I noticed the steering wheel begin to knock when you turned it. After an agressive stint and a hard corner, it seemed to go away only to have it return the next day again. I'm taking it into the dealer to get it checked out. Is this the problem you guys are having? Other than that, this is the best sedan I've owned.

She is full of ****. if there was no record of steering shaft issues, why is there a TSB for it, and a relubricating kit?

I have found that the GM Customer Service reps know nothing about the vehicles they make. It took them 3 weeks and a lot of arguing for them to figure out there was a different owners manual for the GXP. What a joke. I too have gone through fog lights, havent had any knocking noises yet but I am sure they are to come. Refer to technical service Bulletin No.: 04-02-35-004C for the intermediate shaft and Bulletin No.: 01-08-42-001C for the condensation problem with the exterior lights. GM knows there is a problem. Still love my GXP though.

I had my '04 GXP in 3 or 4 times for the fog lamp issue while under warranty. I am having the int. steering shaft issue now. I sent an email several months ago to pontiac about these issues and got their "canned" response with a promise they would call me and follow up. No call, no follow up.....
someone post a link or phone number....I feel like bitching to someone again!
( I really do love my car!!)

Does this apply to the 05 models as well?
