Refer to technical service Bulletin No.: 04-02-35-004C for the intermediate shaft and Bulletin No.: 01-08-42-001C for the condensation problem with the exterior lights. GM knows there is a problem. Still love my GXP though.
Does this apply to the 05 models as well?
the intermediate steering shaft applies to all 00-05 Bonnevilles, Auroras, LeSabres
Fog Lamp issue applies to 04-05 GXP and 05 SLE

Default Intermediate Shaft from GM

I wrote extensively on the intermediate shaft issue for my 02 ssei, and had GM buy me a new 05 GXP when they lost in mediation talks the day I was to go to a BBB board with a lawyer...in short, there is a problem, and I won. Keep on the dealership, and write me for specifics if you need them.

Oh, yeah, my wife had the foglamp issue within three months of the GXP coming home.

Add me to the growing list. I just had my inter. steering shaft replaced on my 2005 GXP at 6800 miles.
To be honest, The "crunching" feeling during a hard left turn was only faintly noticeable.
But thanks to this site; I was very much aware of the problem. So; thanks to all you guys for posting and sharing. And to be fair; my dealer was great. No hassle, no fuss,
no problem. And I still LOVE my Bonnie.

it seems that the issue is getting worse instead of better, it seems to me that the GXPs are seeing issues much earlier in life than the older 00 models, maybe it is due to the change in weight distribution with the GXP

I too, have the intermediate shaft problem on my '00 SSEi. Did anyone get their problem fixed for free? I was hoping to know this before contacting my local dealer to get it fixed.
