Thanks for the replies. I need to go back to the dealer for other "issues" (rear cup holder came out, fog lights out, water leak in rear tail light and worst of all, the words "Bonneville" are falling off!). The dealer has promised to fix all of the issues for me. I will lean on them to fix the brakes. Hopefully all of these BS problems will not continue. Sorry to complain, but this will be my 5th trip to the dealer since I bought the car in December 2005!

never thought I would say this, but the dealer is right. It'* totally normal for the brakes to squeal as the material is semi-metallics. We have those on the SSEi right now and yes, they do squeal slightly. My Riviera had them for about 10k miles until I got tired of the squealing, then I got ceramics instead. (at the cost of reduced braking performance.)

I get a bit of brake squeak at low speeds, I notice it in my U/G garage...my car has Wagner quietstops, ceramic on metal will yield a bit of squeak.

I dont care really, cuz it brings my 4000lb vessel to a dead stop quickly.

I'll be putting in the ceramics next week as the GXP get'* fully independent air ride and sounds like the Wagners are a good choice by your experience with them, Jim. I love to stop as fast as I can go. Both of my feet have lead in them.

I have a 2004 GXP that needed the first set of front brake pads replaced at 14,000 miles (about a year ago). The dealer said one side was "hanging up" and caused the premature wear. They covered it under the warranty and also recut the rotors since these were wavy. I now have about 26,000 miles on the car and hope this second set of brakes lasts 30,000 miles. I also have a 2000 Bonneville SE where the front brakes lasted about 45,000 miles, so I am upset with the 04 GXP brakes so far.
