Your very right , Will ( How is it that seems to be the rule, not the exection) and I have brought alot of this on myself, to busy with modding and showing it to fit into the Dealers required protocol for repairs. I have to admit that like you Rye, once irked GM has taken extra steps to help me with my issues. And I apologize for turning your thread into a personal rant

Default GXP Anti Christ

I own a 2005 GXP that was purchased in April 2005 so it is now 13 months old and has 8,070 miles. This car has been 100% trouble free (knock on wood). The only problems experienced has been getting the cabin air filter installed as the dealer, pontiac and GM really knew little about it, when noted no filter was installed I purchased one and attempted to install it but it was obvious the mount tray was missing, my first trip to the dealer I purchased the car from had a mechanic look at it and tell me the filter just lays loose above the hvac fan, I dont think so. 4 months of battles were required for them to figure out if it was suppose to come with the car or if it was a dealer installed option. Once they figured that out it took several days for them to find the P/N of the install kit and one full day to install. I found a new pontiac dealer as the first one lied. So I took it to the new dealer for install during the same visit I asked for the oil and filter to be changed and tires rotated, 9 quarts of Mobil 1 and a K&N filter was provided by me and were to be used. I left the car @ 7:00 A.M and returned @ 5:00 P.M to retrive it and it was not ready, after waiting 1.5 additional hours my car was ready and I paid my bill that clearly stated customer provided oil and filter. Upon checking the trunk my oil and filter were gone but a GM filter was installed ? Came to find out mechanic had my oil and filter and they replaced with shop oil, it was even stranger the oil monitor was not reset I do not think they had even changed the oil. I have found all my recent experiences with Pontiac GM and the two different dealers I have dealt with to be horrible, God I hope I do not start having trouble with this car!

Well in a roll on drag with the newer Hemi 300c and magnums it is a dead heat until.....we exceed 130 then the GXP Starts taking no prisoners (No speed limiter from factory) I love this car!

Thus HEMIEATER

I'm with Shadow. The GXP has awesome mid to high go but aint eating a hemi with someone who knows how to run it. There is still a rpm limiter that hits about 146 MPH.

http://www.dragtimes.com/compare2.ph...ame=Compare%21

Even with Nitrous I'm about even ground with 300 Hemis. and the SRT-8'* are even faster.

There'* a comparasion engine on this site thats awesome and lets move on before Vital has to come over here and bangs his gavel again. Things are boring over here so why not start a new thread when you get a different idea from another.???

Default Hemi

SRT 8 eat GXP'* for lunch and a lot of other cars, guess the 300C and the Magnum Drivers I have encountered are shy, not one has been able to pull away (nor have I) during roll ons, yet at higher speeds they dissappear. (on closed road conditions of course)

Yeah unfortunatly the only hemieater GXP for now is GXP Venoms...lol. hey but our engines are still much smoother and refined than those pushrod hemis. But GXPs look much more aggressive than the 300C srt-8. Our cars look fast standing still...lol

Oil leak?? Ring blow by??Lost almost a quart of oil since Sythetic oil swap 1800 miles ago. Lost 1/2 quart of original oil in first 700 miles
I need to interject this because this is a common misconception regarding Northstar V8'*:

The Northstar "uses" oil, so having to add a quart after 2,000 is perfectly normal. They all do this and its by design. The cylinders are more aggressively patterned than a regular engine for lubrication so that wear is minimal. There have been 200k teardowns of these engines and they show barely any wear at all, the factory etchings on the cylinders used during factory install that typically dissapear on a normal engine are still present on the Northstars. More info can be found in the following link, and I highly reccomend that every GXP owner read the following link, including doing the "Italain Tuneup". I've done this on the 97 Seville on many occasions and it helps:

http://www.cadillacforums.com/cadillac-tech.html#noil

The minor cost of buying and adding a quart of oil every now and then is an investment that your engine will still run like new beyond the 200k mile mark.

Thanx for the info and link Boreas . It was a very good and informative read. And I have to agree that as a very agressive N* driver my engine has really opened up and oil consumption down as I pass 3500 miles. The Caddy forum you linked has alot of other info in it and I will devote some time reading more.

The leather finally came in for the crack in my seat. I havent had any more problems in a few months now. I am starting to regain some confidence in this car.

GM still hasnt got my extended warranty to me as of yet. However, I have been in contact with a representative at head office who assures me the process is under way. Apparently the regional service manager is over worked and didnt have time to fill out the paper work.
