Ok, I guess we are all hater here...

I don't hate the N.... At the same time I wouldn't have one... But thats just me...

Myself and bill do agree on several points about the Northstar... So maybe that makes me a hater...

Have you by chance looked at the SE bonneville? I have seen them totalled and they too have an all alluminum suspension...

The same goes for the W body Impalla and I'm sure the Monte Carlo as well... These have alluminum suspensions and an alluminum Subframe...

I am not here to fight about which engine is better, Both are GM engines and do have their good points.. after seeing my Aunts 01 SE, I would not have one... I'm not sure if I would ever buy a newer bonnie...

I wouldn't mind a Honda accord V6 tho..
I will say it would have been interesting to see the 3.5 in 3.7-3.9 format ....

For all of us out there... well those of you that have one of a few remaining GXP's, just be happy you have one... Same goes for the SSEi's....

The GXP has differen't suspension. It HAS an STB, and aren't some roll bars thicker as well?

It also has better brakes. It's a more refined car mechanically, but maybe that's what it shoulda been back in '00.

Inurok, you sound like a 3800 hater more than the other people are sounding like a Northstar hater. ;) I don't think that bashing on will saying that he doesn't like the GXP because he can't afford one is cool at all. I do agree totally with one thing you've said though, I wish they'd of put the DOHC V6 in the Bonneville instead of the L36. It's a much better performer. (says my brother who owns a 2000 SLE and myself.) ;) I guess it'll always be a mystery as to why pontiac didn't use the 3.5. I hear that it was much more expensive to produce though so that might have something to do with it.

I'll tell you what, I saw an Intrigue with the 3.5 and that thing would get it.... Not sure what the reasoning was for GM to not use the engine... The engine was used by Olds alone... Buick, Pontiac and Chevy kept the 3800 series II and now the 3800 III( nothing but a series II with Fly by wire and an alluminum upper intake for the NA'd engines )...

GM had made a statement a long time ago that the 3800 II had superior low end torque, and better driveability around town.... That seems to hold somewhat true, But the 3.5 was making more power than a 3800... And if you can get 29 mpg with the more performance minded gear ratio, it makes me wonder what that motor could do attached to a 2.97 or 3.06 ratio... If GM was to replace the 3800 with a twin cam engine, a punched out 3.5 would be interesting...

What ever happend to the roumor of the 3.9 260 Hp V6?

http://www.caranddriver.com/article....&page_number=3

2005 Bonneville GXP 1/4 Mile 15.4 @ 91mph
2005 300 C 1/4 Mile 14.4 @ 99mph
2005 Crown Vic 1/4 Mile 16.2 @ 82mph..... ouch

.... and just for shits and giggles.... my stock 97 SSEi ran the 1/4 in 14.9 @ 92mph

So I think that should put to rest this topic....... it should.... but it won't.....

It's not a rumor.... it's in the new G6 GTP.

That 3900 will be a GREAT engine I think. It's alumiumun(block probably weighs 1/3-1/2 as much due to material 60* size), has more HP stock then an L67. Also has manual options! /drool....

No way am I a hater and I love cars. When I said when you could afford it I was true. Its an expensive car right now but not in a year or too. I wanted a 2005 M45 but I could not afford it. Actually the GXP is the first brand new car I ever had. I have always owned second hand cars.

Didnt know that many GM sedans had so much aluminum in thier frames.

willwren 05-31-2005 10:43 PM

So you're not a hater, but I am? Can you tell me why that is?

Because you continue to say how slow and bad the N* is and continue to chalenge pink slips for a race. I continue to state both cars have good and bad points. I also have good and bad things to say about both engines while your comments are all bias to the 3800 and negative to the N*

I have never seen your car so i am sorry for craping on the age but it is my opinion that you are a hater of the N*.

Inurok, Merlin is a Moderator on this forum. I'd suggest you respond to the PM's.

Secondly, comply with MY PM's or you're history. We leave the name-calling to the Kindergarten kids.
