2004 GXP = slow???
Just bought a 2004 Bonneville GXP (34,000 mi), for wife.
Love the car. But after doing some research it seems the car is alot slower than expected.
I think GM has quoted 6.5sec 0-60 and high 14'* for the 1/4. Those #'* sound reasonable.
But I looked up a road test on Motor Week and they have 0-60 @ 7.8 and 1/4mi@16.0Link to Motor Week road test
And their test of the 2000 Bonnie SSEi is slower : 7.9 and 16.4
Welcome to Motorweek Online
AnyBody know of any other roadtests with some better numbers?
My brother thinks His 2000 Grand-AM GT with 100 fewer horses will beat the GXP....I think he is right

the GXP'* run low to min 15'* in the 1/4 mile.
the SSEis run about the same if not a hair quicker
The Auto Magazines always have higher times than what the cars in the real world run.
your brothers car would see the GXP Tails all day long

I recorded a 6.6 0-60 time with my G-timer. The G-timer is extremely accurate, as I have used it to compare actual track recorded times in my Regal and the readings were dead on. The only upgrade on my Bonneville is a K&N drop-in filter.

My 97 SSEi isn't really stock, I do 0-60 in just a hair over 5 seconds. A stock bonnie should do he 1/4 in the 15s, with a few mods you can get in to the high 14s. To get to the high 13s it will take more. You should have no problem seeing that grand am in your rear view mirror.
Here'* an example of what a fair amount of mods can do with a 3800 pound car.
