Default 2004-05 Bonneville Headlight Headlamp Adjustment Aim Aiming - How to???

How do you adjust the HORIZONTAL on the 2004 and 2005 Bonneville SLE and GXPs? I know they are different than all other years and models of Bonnevilles. I have searched and searched this forum, and have found many threads about this. Some threads are about people who have had success, mostly by accident and breaking stuff. I still have not seen a post about how to accomplish this the CORRECT way. I have also searched the owners manual with no luck. Does anyone know the "proper" way to adjust the horizontal on these headlights? The vertical has a screw that works just fine, but the Horizontal is not the same. I hijacked this photo from another post to help illustrate what I am talking about and the difference from other years and models headlights.

Venom,

I know!! That is exactly my point. I was wondering if anyone out there knows how to "properly" adjust the HORIZONTAL on the headlights on the GXPs. Or if there is even a way to do this at the owner level? Maybe this HAS to be done at a dealership or something??? No one seems to know "for sure" how to do it. There has to be a mechanic or someone out there who knows how to do this without breaking anything.

It is too cold outside to stand there and mess with it and try to figure it out on my own right now, so I was wondering if someone could just tell me how to do it - properly, so I don't get in there and accidentally break stuff.

Any help would be appreciated.

There doesnt seem to be a horizontal adjustment, no one here has come up with one, it has been brought up before here. I had planned to put it on the bitch list for the next time I take it to Dealer Service, but I havent had any recent problems, Thank God.

I am starting to get the same feeling - that there just may NOT be a horizontal adjustment. BUT, since I am totally anal about how my headlights are adjusted - for the best possible angles to light up the most road in fron tof me, as well as the ditches, without shining in oncoming traffic'* eyes, I will take a look at this much closer and figure something out when it warms up outside.

When/if I find an answer, I will post the solution here.

I just put in new HID lights and wanted to adjust the horizontal alignment of the lights. I haven't checked with the dealer, but I am almost convinced that the horizontal adjustment comes from the plastic nut that the tear portion (from the tear drop headlight - fits into the fender) sockets into is threaded. This is where the ball on the stud sockets into. I think you thread this in and out to adjust the lateral direction. Someone please let me know if they have found anything different. I have found a few places that have called this plastic retainer a "headlight adjusting nut".

Side to side adjustments are only available if you have aftermarket headlights. The one I have by Depo has two adjustment screws like the one the picture is zoomed in on: one for up-down and one for side-to-side. The little plastic washer like thing on the OEMs doesn't do anything.
