That'* exactly how our bay is also. If the customer want'* it outside, we will do it. Otherwise, I recommend to them mounting it on the inside, so the antenna won't sucomb to the weather, and die. I usually just place it right at the corner where the A-pillar meets the dash. Haven't seen a single one die yet!

The factory metallic tint on certain vehicles will cause signal loss.

On that vehicle it is probably a good idea to mount in on the roof.
Just make sure to use the piece (long skinny plastic piece that has 2 way tape) that hides the wire this will probably hold the antenna from moving around and damaging the paint.

Installing on the dash is way quicker and more reliable for most vehicles.
