Default Wiring question...

I got some factory Bose speakers (thanks SSsuperchargedEi, did you get my PM??).

The AC Delco 6x9'* have 4 wires going into them. The Bose 6x9'* have 2. However, then have the same connector. I plugged them up, and they sound great, but what do I do with the extra two wires? Should I splice them into the other two, respectively? Just leave them be? What?

Depending on which two leads are left, you'll lose bass or midrange.

Right, the extra two are for the subwoofer part of the AC Delco speakers.

I'm not so sure that'* good for the radio to have all of the power from the subwoofer amp running back through it.

Any definite answers on what to do? Any wiring gurus? I am definitely bass heavy.

Do you have too much bass? Does adjusting the gain switch do anything? If it does, you are hooked up to the wrong two wires. You don't want to go through that bass amp for full range speakers.

You can run them together into just one pair of leads.

The amp shouldn't allow current through it the other way.

That'* why I was wondering about splicing. The clip on the '97 Bonnie Bose speaker fits right into the clip on the '93 Bonnie Delco speaker, and the Bose clip just doesn't have wires on the lower two. The delco speaker had all 4 wires going to the cone.

As far as the amp is conderned and the gain switch, in all honesty, I have no idea what'* going on.

The head unit is a Monsoon from a 2001 Camaro. I looked behind the dash, and there is a little 1" x 3" (appr.) box behind the gain switch, then some wires from the radio to a circuit board that'* just kinda laying loose, and, I believe it'* connected to the gain switch, but the switch doesn't seem to make any difference in the sound.

So, I dunno... :?
