where do i get steering wheel controls from - GM Forum - Buick, Cadillac, Chev, Olds, GMC & Pontiac chat

Audio (and aftermarket electronics) This is your place for alarms, remote starters, to brag about your system, exaggerate your db levels, or simply ask questions for stock or aftermarket audio. No Flames! (except from roasted amps)

The terminology you use is so cryptic, what you are asking is unclear to me. Do you already have steering wheel controls, or do you want to add them?

If you already have them, and you are adding an aftermarket head unit, you need to select a head unit with infra-red remote controls. Then you get an adapter that reads the steering wheel switches and spits out the appropriate infra-red command.

You will therefore need to mount the infra-red transmitter LED in a location that will be read by the sensor in the head unit.

I'm sure you can Google "steering wheel control adapter" or something similar...

Can both of you new guys put your year and trim level in your signatures? It'* critical for us in order to answer your posts.

The PAC SWI is one interface. I personally don't like them but my experience with one was 5 years ago. I may give them another chance soon.
